The UK has some of the best track day circuits in the world, from Formula 1 venues to short, twisty club tracks. Whether you drive a hot hatch, a supercar or a dedicated track car, there’s a circuit within reach of most of the country. This guide lists the main UK track day circuits by region, with what each one is like to drive and who it suits.
Scotland
Knockhill
Location: Fife · Lap length: About 1.3 miles
Scotland’s national motorsport centre. A short, hilly lap with blind crests and a tight hairpin, so it rewards smooth driving more than outright power.
Mobile fitting in this region: Scotland.
North West England
Oulton Park
Location: Cheshire · Lap length: Up to about 2.7 miles
A rolling parkland circuit with fast sweeps, elevation changes and very little run-off in places. One of the most popular track day venues in the country, and best enjoyed once you have a few days behind you.
Three Sisters
Location: Wigan · Lap length: Short, technical lap
A compact circuit popular for bikes, karts and first track days. A good place to learn car control at lower speeds.
Mobile fitting in this region: Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Chester, Blackpool and Preston.
Wales
Anglesey Circuit (Trac Môn)
Location: Anglesey · Lap length: Several layouts, up to about 2.1 miles
Set right on the coast with views of Snowdonia. Wide, flowing and well suited to faster road cars. Wind and weather can change quickly, so pack for all seasons.
Pembrey
Location: Carmarthenshire · Lap length: About 1.5 miles
The main circuit in South Wales. Flat and fairly open, which makes it a friendly venue for newer drivers.
Mobile fitting in this region: North Wales.
North East and Yorkshire
Croft
Location: Near Darlington, North Yorkshire · Lap length: About 2.1 miles
A fast, open circuit with a mix of high-speed corners and a tight final section. The main track day venue for the North East.
Blyton Park
Location: Near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire · Lap length: About 1.6 miles
A former airfield with a twisty, technical layout. Popular with drivers from South Yorkshire and the East Midlands for its relaxed track days.
Mobile fitting in this region: Newcastle, Teesside, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire.
East Midlands
Donington Park
Location: Leicestershire · Lap length: About 2 miles (National) or 2.5 miles (Grand Prix)
Home of the famous Craner Curves, a fast downhill sequence that every driver remembers. A classic British circuit with a long racing history.
Cadwell Park
Location: Near Louth, Lincolnshire · Lap length: About 2.2 miles
Often called the “mini Nürburgring”. Narrow, hilly and full of character, including the well-known Mountain section.
Mallory Park
Location: Leicestershire · Lap length: About 1.35 miles
A short, fast lap around a lake, best known for the long Gerards bend. A good choice for a first track day.
Mobile fitting in this region: East Midlands, Leicestershire.
West Midlands, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire
Silverstone
Location: Northamptonshire · Lap length: Several layouts, up to about 3.7 miles (Grand Prix)
The home of the British Grand Prix. Track days run on the National, International or Grand Prix layouts, and driving the same corners as Formula 1 is a bucket-list day for many owners.
Bedford Autodrome
Location: Bedfordshire · Lap length: Several layouts on a former airfield
Very wide with plenty of run-off, which makes it one of the more forgiving venues for learning a powerful car.
Mobile fitting in this region: Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Northampton, Cambridgeshire.
East of England
Snetterton
Location: Norfolk · Lap length: Several layouts, up to about 3 miles
A long, fast circuit with big braking zones. The full 300 layout gives you plenty of track time per lap.
Mobile fitting in this region: Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex.
London and the South East
Brands Hatch
Location: Kent · Lap length: About 1.2 miles (Indy) or 2.4 miles (Grand Prix)
Famous for Paddock Hill Bend, a fast, dropping right-hander at the end of the start straight. The short Indy layout is busy and great fun; the Grand Prix loop adds a fast run through the woods.
Goodwood Motor Circuit
Location: West Sussex · Lap length: About 2.4 miles
A historic, very fast circuit with strict noise limits and a limited number of track days, so book early.
Lydden Hill
Location: Kent · Lap length: About 1 mile
A short, hilly circuit best known as the home of rallycross. A fun venue for smaller, lighter cars.
Mobile fitting in this region: London, Essex.
Southern England and the South West
Thruxton
Location: Near Andover, Hampshire · Lap length: About 2.4 miles
Often described as the UK’s fastest circuit. A former airfield with long, fast sweeps that suit powerful cars and test your commitment.
Castle Combe
Location: Near Chippenham, Wiltshire · Lap length: About 1.85 miles
A fast, flat lap around a former airfield. Noise limits are strict, so check your car before you book.
Mobile fitting in this region: Southampton, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Cornwall.
Before You Book
- Check the noise limit. Every circuit sets its own, and some are strict.
- Arrange insurance. Most road policies exclude track use.
- Prepare the car. Check brake pads and fluid, tyres, oil and coolant before you go.
- Bring the basics. A helmet, your driving licence, a tyre pressure gauge, a torque wrench and plenty of water.
- Book tuition on your first day. Most organisers offer it, and it is the quickest way to learn a new circuit safely.

Track Day Mileage
Track days add miles to the odometer even when the car never leaves the circuit. Some owners trailer their cars to keep road miles down; others use a mileage blocker during track sessions. See our track day mileage blockers for plug-and-play modules for track day and performance cars, with mobile fitting available across the UK.
For lawful use only — mileage blockers must not be used to misrepresent a vehicle’s true mileage or vehicle history.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a race licence for a track day?
Usually not. Most open track days only need a full driving licence, a road-legal car in good condition and a helmet. Check the organiser’s rules before you book, as some days have extra requirements.
Will my car insurance cover a track day?
Most standard car insurance policies exclude track use. Check your policy, and if it isn’t covered, look at specialist track day insurance for the day.
What are noise limits at UK circuits?
Every circuit sets its own static and drive-by noise limits, and some, such as Goodwood and Castle Combe, are stricter than others. Cars with loud aftermarket exhausts can be sent home, so check the limit with the organiser before you go.
Which circuit is best for a first track day?
A shorter, more open circuit is easier to learn. Bedford Autodrome, Mallory Park, Pembrey and Blyton Park are all good choices, and many organisers offer tuition for newcomers.
Can I use a mileage blocker on a track day?
For lawful use only: a mileage blocker can be used to stop track sessions adding to your odometer, but road mileage must still be recorded, and you must declare a vehicle’s true mileage and history if you sell it. Mileage blockers must not be used to misrepresent a vehicle’s true mileage.
